Transfer & release
Transferring the domain (seller)
Once funds are held, move the domain to the buyer and mark it transferred.
You will be notified when the buyer's funds are safely held in escrow. That is your signal to transfer — the money is set aside for you.
Two common transfer methods
- Registrar push — if buyer and seller use the same registrar, you push the domain into the buyer's account there. This is usually fastest.
- Transfer (auth/EPP) code — you unlock the domain and share the authorization code so the buyer can pull it into their own registrar.
- 1Unlock the domain and disable any transfer protection that would block the move.
- 2Push the domain to the buyer, or provide the auth/EPP code, as agreed.
- 3Mark it as transferred on the deal page so the buyer knows to confirm and the inspection window can begin.
- 4Wait for the buyer to confirm control and accept. Once they do, your funds are released.
A newly registered or recently transferred domain may be under a 60-day ICANN transfer lock. If so, use a registrar push or agree on the timeline up front so the buyer knows what to expect.
